Buffet Contest

So customization is one of the many reasons why The Factory Girl is different from every other furniture company. We have the capability and know-how to make any piece of furniture fit exactly what our buyer wants. We’ve had an amazing amount of success creating our own designs but now we want your help. We are having a contest to see who can design the next buffet table for The Factory Girl which will go into production immediately. If your design is selected, we will not only give you the piece of furniture, we will name the piece after you. So show us your artistic vision of what this buffet should look like and we might just be selling your design in our store and on our web site very soon. Please submit drawings to Contest ends Feb. 1, 2013.

Me and The Factory Girl

Why do you keep posting pictures of furniture on Instagram and what is your involvement with The Factory Girl? This is a question I’ve been getting asked a lot lately so I thought I’d briefly explain. I’m the president of The Factory Girl. I have two partners, Clay and Jessie. Clay and I have been best friends for several years and Jessie is his sister. We started Factory Girl with one goal in mind- create bold, fresh, unique furniture and bags that reflect our own contemporary style.  The Bachelor has allowed me to do a lot of really cool things and has presented me with many opportunities but my heart will always be with The Factory Girl because I’m building something I’m passionate about with two people I love. Work is not work when you love what you do. So check our site out and tell me what you think. I’ll see everyone Monday night!

Supporting the Fight Against Chron’s Disease and Colitis

As many of you know, we’re quite a big family here at The Factory Girl. We’ve got plenty of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins near and distant and we’ll stop at nothing to support them. This weekend, we’re running in a 1/2 marathon in support of  our brother, Clint, who has been fighting Chron’s Disease for many years now. Our fight is against this terrible disease and in hopes to find a cure. Here’s his story:

Clint was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in August of 2005, the day after his first child was born. The months before his diagnosis were filled with extreme fatigue, weight loss, pain, frustration, and confusion. The diagnosis was devastating and forced a complete new way of life. Although 1.4 million Americans have Crohn’s or Colitis it is often battled in private. Many people are unaware of how life altering and debilitating IBD can be. Clint has battled this difficult disease from day one on the most humble and gracious level. Most people, including family and friends, have no idea the struggles he has and how he must manage his every day life. He started Remicade infusions 3 years ago with the hope of living in remission. The Remicade has offered significant relief, however he has not been able to reach remission. Clint also has 3 young boys and lives in fear of them developing the disease some day. These are a few of the many reasons we run as a Team to honor Clint. He is a very loyal and dedicated person and will do everything in his power to find a cure. Please help us support Clint, and the many other people living with Crohn’s or Colitis. We are planning to participate in the annual Team Challenge half-marathon in Las Vegas on December 2. We are raising the money with the hope that one day there will be a cure! We are very thankful for your support! TEAM CLINT (Carly, Jessie, Brandon, Courtney, Clay, Sean, and Clint)

Since we’ve started raising money to be able to run the 1/2 marathon in Vegas, we’ve surpassed our goal of $14,000. A HUGE thank you to those who have contributed monetarily and with your thoughts and prayers. If you’d still like to donate, you can do so here. For more information about the run this weekend, please visit We’re very excited to be able to participate in such a meaningful event. Here’s to fighting fiercely and finding a cure!

Custom Bar Stools at The Factory Girl

Clay’s got something unique. And when he goes for it, he goes all the way. Recently, we caught him working on some of our swivel bar stools, a custom order, nonetheless.

Our furniture genius calls it a chair makeover. He takes something that already exists and jazzes it up to fit whatever the customer wants. In this case, she grabbed a swatch of material that matched her eat-in kitchen area and told Clay it needed to match her color scheme perfectly. He chuckled, and started in on the process.

First, he sands it down, weathering the wood a bit. Then, he applies the teal-ish green color to match the sample she handed over. While listening to country music (he is from Texas, after all!), Clay sands, paints, and sands some more… primes, stains, and applies a clear coat to give it a long lasting life, free from wear and tear.

If you haven’t been to the store to check them out first hand, these chairs swivel (the perfect place to sit when you’ve got more than one person to chat with!) and have a foot rest at just the right height. They stand about 4 feet tall and the arm rests are a little higher than most.

In case you were wondering, these bar stools are definitely available. Some of our favorite designs include this Indian Patterned Bar Stool, this beautiful Blue and Brown Bar Stool, and the lovely Red Cheetah Bar Stools. They won’t be here for long… so come and get ‘em while they’re hot!

And if you’re looking for something custom, we can do that, too! Just fill out the form here and we’ll be in touch!

Sean Lowe Talks About His Life On The Bachelorette

One of our favorite things about one of the managing partners of The Factory Girl, Sean Lowe, is his passion for life, love for Jesus, and his happiness, despite having to fall in love in the public eye. We are so happy he’s back – hanging out with us every day – so we asked him to write about his time with Emily on The Bachelorette. This is, admittedly, his very first blog… and we think he did a great job!

If you told me a year ago that I would appear on “The Bachelorette” and fall in love for all of America to see, I would have laughed at you. A lot can change in a year. It feels like just yesterday I was walking my dogs in my neighborhood when my phone rang. I answered the phone and a bubbly girl named Carli said she was with the casting department on “The Bachelorette”.  It didn’t take long for me to figure out that my sister was the person responsible for submitting my name to ABC and it also didn’t take long for me to decide that I was not going to do the show. I had no interest in subjecting myself to public criticism  and I certainly didn’t think finding real love was possible on a reality tv show.

Carli from casting convinced me to submit a mandatory video of myself just in case I changed my mind and wanted to move forward in the future. Well the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of traveling the world and experiencing new things. So after submitting the video, I did a couple of interviews with the show and the next thing I know, I’m getting ready to fly to Charlotte, North Carolina.

As most of you probably witnessed on tv, my cynicism of finding love on a reality show quickly dissolved. After a few short weeks I started to develop real feelings for Emily and a couple of weeks after that I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her and be a father to her young daughter. The cynic who was just looking for an exciting experience and didn’t think love was possible in that setting was ready to propose to the girl he met on a reality show. Well, you probably know how the story ends but please don’t feel sorry for me. I’m so thankful for the love I found and ultimately lost. It opened my eyes to what I really want out of life and my faith assures me that God has someone special waiting for me. I’m anxiously awaiting the day I meet her.

- Sean

We are so excited for what’s to come and would love for Sean to find that someone special. Who knows… that someone special could be right around the corner ;)

Summer At The Factory Girl

Summer is all but gone and we’ve been cookin’ up all kinds of awesome at The Factory Girl. We’ve got a brand spankin’ new website and this lovely little blog to bring you the latest updates from us… what’s hot, what’s new, and everything in between.

Like this Top Handle Messenger Bag. It’s the perfect shade of blue to transition from summer to fall and you’ve got three options to carry with this adjustable strap. Crossover your body, on the shoulder, or strapless with the tote handle. This bag has all the storage you’ll need with two side pockets, two zip pockets, and it even zips up on top and locks with the flap on the outside. The gold hardware complements the three color combinations this bag comes in and is ready for your summer vacation whenever you are!

We recommend pairing this adorable bag with a nautical look. Perhaps a navy and white striped shirt, white shorts, and tan sandals.

What’s a new bag without a new Embossed Floral Design Wallet? We love the neutral colors these side zip wallets come in. The slick, floral-embossed wallets offer handy storage for your credit cards, checks, cash, or even cell phone when you don’t need to carry a large bag. It’ll hold up to 8 cards and includes a few sections as well as a coin zipper pouch.

Grab one of the wallets from this summer collection and pair it with your favorite bright bag!

Last, but certainly not least, one of our favorites this summer. This Coral Front Buckle Pouch is absolutely adorable (and goes with EVERYTHING!) It’s a sturdy faux leather with a belt-style adjustable strap. The inside cheetah/leopard print and bronze hardware complement the coral well. It’s got a few storage compartments around the bag… a pouch on the front, a zipped up section on the back, and a slit for easy iphone storage when you’re in a hurry!

We’ve got a closet full of summer flair that goes great with this bag! Pair it with a cute summer dress or a flowing top and lace shorts.

While you’re here, go ahead and take a look around. Pin your favorites, share them with friends, or add them to the cart and we’ll have them delivered right to your doorstep! As a little added bonus, we’re offering free shipping on orders over $50 in celebration of our fancy new website. Use Promo Code TFGBLOG from now until September 30, 2012.
